A Dream Becomes a Reality

On Sunday, May 7, 2006 when Joya Dupre, a high school senior at St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco accepted the scholarship from the Delta San Francisco-Peninsula Foundation, the "Dream" of 1999 became a reality.

The Delta San Francisco-Peninsula Foundation was organized as a 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization to award scholarships to deserving high school seniors in the greater San Francisco-Peninsula Bay Area. To date, the Delta San Francisco-Peninsula Foundation has had two major phases of fundraising. The first, a silent phase for the members of the foundation and community donors to establish the seed funds for the Foundation. The second phase of fundraising was a presentation of Miss Jennifer Holliday in concert on March 12, 2006. The Delta San Francisco-Peninsula Foundation continues to host fundraising events and manage its growing donor community to increase the scholarship fund.

The Delta San Francisco-Peninsula Foundation is most grateful to our wonderful and generous donor community. Because of all of you, our dream came true and we awarded Miss Joya Dupre our very first scholarship.

This scholarship on May 7, 2006 was given in honor of a deceased loyal supporter Winifred Burks-Houck, a chemist. Recipient Joya Dupre plans to attend Howard University and major in Pre-Medicine. The dream is now a reality.
